Tandooris, kebabs, Biryanis, butter chicken or rogan josh- no matter we buy them from a five-star fine-dining restaurant or a roadside dhaba, doesn’t matter as long as the taste suits our appetite. That’s our craze for North Indian food.
Let’s take you on a tour to some North Indian eateries at Greater Kailash. What matter for you- taste or ambience?
We’ll start with Saleem’s Restaurant that is a monopoly North Indian restaurant in the area. Although a multi-cuisine, they are best known for Mughlai, Indian and Kashmiri fare that they have been consistently serving for the last three decades.
At Kailash Colony, Saleem’s is quite a dull setting but don’t get mistaken by their drab interiors, the service is prompt and the food tasty par excellence.
They have a variety of dishes but the most ordered among them are Chicken kalmi kebab, Mutton tawa roll, Mutton burra, Tandoori mushroom, Chicken reshmi tikka; also try their Saleem’s special chowmein. Kebabs have made Saleem’s special over the years and they are the best at it.
With traditional Punjabi food, Zaffran stands famous among Delhi crowd when it comes to dining dishes tasting like the ones from the kitchen of Punjabi dhabas.
In the 3rd Floor of Kasbah building, GK1, Zaffran is many people’s first choice when they think of fine dining in a Punjabi restaurant. The ambience is quite airy with an open kitchen, a semi-open seating and cheerful crowd. You might say that North Indian restaurants serve the same old Punjabi fare, what’s different in Zaffran? The one dish that stands out in Zaffran is the Sindhi Biryani. The texture, flavours and moisture within will help you to finish it without any side dish.
Other dishes to be tried out are Murgh Malai tikka, Dal tadka, tandoori pomfret, murgh mumtaz- all are simply lip-smacking.
Zaffran also serves special Sunday Brunch which includes cuisine from all over the world. Come and experience lavish food.
4S Punjabi at M Block market, GK2 is a place to be if you want to have cheap drinks and good Mughlai food; and ofcourse if ambience doesn’t matter to you at all. This place usually remains crowded by college kids and bachelors who try to get the best out of their limited pockets. Inspite of that, the atmosphere within is never unruly. Though not a family restaurant, but still wouldn’t be unsafe for families.
Now for the food, the menu serves soups, chaats, salads, starters and all varieties of North Indian chicken dishes like Patiyala chicken, stuffed reshmi kebab, Chicken bharta, murgh dhabewala along with a number of mutton preparations too.
